The Little Potato Growers of Ontario (LPGO) is a partnership owned by the Little Potato Company and Mackay and Hughes. LPGO grows, packages, markets and distributes the Little Potato Company’s products in Eastern Canada, and in the Eastern USA.
The Little Potato Company started in 1996 on a one-acre plot near Edmonton, Alberta. That first year, the founder, Jacob van der Schaaf, washed his first potatoes in a bathtub, delivered the potatoes in his station wagon, and sold his first crop at a farmer’s market in Edmonton. He could only dream that his potatoes would someday be found in restaurants and supermarkets throughout North America. The Little Potato Company’s vision is to identify, develop and deliver unique high valued small potato products that are distinguished by quality, taste and innovative methods of marketing, and to do so on a continuous basis, year around.
Combining Little Potato Company’s exclusive varieties, their proprietary growing protocols, and their technical experience, together with MacKay and Hughes’ management, logistics and infrastructure in the East, will ensure that the product is grown, harvested, stored, packed, and delivered in the most efficient manner possible.
